If you dabble with tarot cards, here’s some good advice to heed: All tarot decks are not the same. That’s not to say that one deck is better than another. In fact, there’s not really an objective way to rate tarot decks. The one that your soul feels in alignment with is likely not going to be the one that my soul feels in alignment with.
If you’ve tried to learn a particular deck and had a difficult time working with it consistently, it could be that the particular deck does not feel good to you. I’ve had situations where I purchased a tarot deck and found that I hated working with it. Since I don’t like throwing away spiritual tools, I found someone who would appreciate it and gifted the deck to that person.
You also may find that the tarot deck you choose to work with changes from time to time. For example, for years, my favorite tarot deck was the Tarot of the Witches. Then, I started to use the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot Deck. A couple of years ago, I fell in love with the Voyager Tarot: Intuition Cards for the 21st Century deck. The cards were physically bigger than other decks I’d worked with, which I liked, and the images were more abstract. I found that it was easier for my intuition and imagination to do their thing, and I wasn’t getting so hung up on the scenes depicted on the cards. The deck I use a lot now is Doreen Virtue’s Angel Tarot Cards. I like these because they use kinder images. For example, the Death card has been replaced in this deck with the ‘Release’ card — which makes sense given the fact that the Death card is not about literal death, but rather it is about letting go of things that no longer serve us.
I’ve spoken with people who’ve literally purchased hundreds of decks and you may find that you like one deck in certain situations and another deck at different times. Some decks are also designed for certain purposes. For example, Victor Daniels has created a deck to help you with romantic concerns in the Tarot D’Amour: Find Love, Sex, and Romance in the Cards.
No one can tell you which deck is for you. Use your own intuition and inner guidance to select a deck that feels good to you when you use it. Your tarot readings will be more accurate and fulfilling when they’re coming from an authentic place.
