If you work regularly with tarot cards, you may find that certain cards sometimes represent different people in your life — or someone who is about to enter your life. For example, you might draw the King of Pentacles and it could represent a man who will help you advance in your career. The court cards, such as Kings, Queens, Knights and Pages, are notorious for showing up to warn us about a person we are going to interact with in our daily life. But here’s the thing: Just as a tarot card can represent someone in your life, one can also represent you.
Why you would want a tarot card to represent you
There are a number of reasons why it can be helpful to have a tarot card represent you. It might highlight certain traits that you have or traits that you should watch out for. I’ve seen tarot cards depict someone’s shadow side — a part of them that lies beneath the conscious or that needs healing.
In those instances, the card may have shown up to let the person know what aspects of themselves they should focus on. Having a card that represents you can also make it easier to see how other potential events might affect you.
Pay attention to how other cards interact with the one that represents you. For example, the seven of swords can symbolize thievery, or someone who is deceitful. If the person depicted in the five of swords is facing a tarot card that symbolizes you it could be a warning to you that someone in your circle cannot be trusted.
How to know what tarot card represents you
There are a number of ways to determine that a tarot card represents you.
You can indicate a position in a spread that will represent you and whatever card you pick for that spot is the one.
You can choose a card that resonates with you to represent you.
You can shuffle continuously until a card drops out of your hands, and designate that card to represent you.
You can consider a card that you pick multiple times to represent you.
Once you know what card represents you, look for ways to work with the energy of that card. You can sleep with it under your pillow and allow its energy to penetrate your dreamworld. You can put it in the center of all of your tarot readings. You can study that card and learn about all of the different things it can represent, and then see if you can figure out which representations are most applicable to you.
