If you’re interested in the paranormal, there are plenty of television shows to satisfy your appetite, from Paranormal Survivor to Haunted History. Now there’s a new series in the mix, called Ghost Brothers, and it takes a different approach to the subject.
Upon first glance, one difference that’s easy to note about the series is that the ‘ghost brothers’ are African American. Billed as the first Black ghost hunting team, the show proves that people of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds share an interest in the paranormal.
But there’s another difference between this show and many of the others on television. When it comes to ghost hunting, most of us that are interested in the topic aren’t experts in the subject matter. Often professional ghost hunters seem so comfortable with the phenomena that they don’t seem to be surprised by anything. This show actually features ghost hunters who seem down to earth and react in ways that we would probably react if we were in their shoes.
The wonder that they feel as they explore haunted houses seems familiar to us. It’s how we’d likely react in the same situation. Their fear when they hear footsteps or unexplainable sounds is also palpable — and relatable.
The cast members are Juwan Mass, Dalen Spratt and Marcus Harvey. The three men are friends who were all brought up in religious households. Dalen first became interested in the paranormal after seeing an apparition in his grandmother’s house when he was seven. Juwan has been ghost hunting in graveyards since he was twelve. Marcus is the newest member of the trio and they’ve been ghost hunting together for several years now.
The show, which airs on Destination America, also manages to mix a little humor in as well. The ghost brothers have strong personalities and you can’t help but enjoy their trek into the supernatural and want to go along for the ride. If you’re inspired to do some ghost hunting of your own, this starter ghost hunting kit provides everything you need to get up and running.
