I’ve always had an unexplainable fear of fire. For many years, I couldn’t even light a candle without feeling anxious. which has led me to wonder: did I die in a fire in a past life? Apparently my question is not so far-fetched. Turns out, it’s not unusual for us to have fears that are related to the way that we died in a previous lifetime.
If you believe in reincarnation, you would probably agree with the following statement: Death is one of the most traumatic experiences that one can go through. So it stands to reason that your deaths in previous lifetimes can have a huge impact on your current life. I recently heard a story from someone who believes her daughter had a past life in which she died on September 11, 2001 in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The woman described her two-year-old daughter as panicking when a plane flew low overhead. She believed this extreme fear to be a carryover from her daughter’s death on September 11th.
Do you struggle in certain areas of your life or have fears or blocks that are getting in your way? Maybe you can’t seem to move further in your career or you keep failing at a particular goal. Perhaps you struggle with relationships. Whatever your struggle, there is a chance that it could be related to a death experience in a past life. The good news is that remembering that past life death and gaining an understanding of it can sometimes free you from some of your current life burdens. Past life regression therapy may be able to help you to do that.
How to remember a past life death
Here are some signs that can help you determine how you died in a previous life.
Fears
Perhaps fears are among the most common ways that people discover what they died from in a past life. Are you a hypochondriac who is afraid to get sick? Perhaps you died of a plague or some other illness in a previous life. The little girl in the story above who panicked at the sight of an airplane flying low overhead shows just how powerful fears from previous lifetimes can be. If you’re terrified of something and there is not logical reason for your fear, perhaps it can provide some insight into a previous death.
Birthmarks
Sometimes death can leave a physical mark. For example, a gunshot could leave a bullet wound. A stabbing could leave a scar. Many believe birthmarks to be signs from past life experiences. In some cases, people have claimed that a birthmark resembles a wound that killed them. A round birthmark could indicate a gunshot wound. Some believe that freckles or albinism could indicate that a person was burned to death in a past life. If you were born with a mark on your physical body, consider whether the mark resembles a certain type of wound that could have been fatal.
Dreams
Past life memories often come through during our dreams. (Read: How to Remember Past Life Memories in Dreams) If you’ve ever died in a dream, you know that it can be unsettling. However, before you go scaring yourself thinking you had a premonition, consider the fact that you could have been dreaming about a death scene that already occurred in a previous life.
Intuition
As your intuition strengthens, don’t be surprised when you start to have random insights about things. You may even find yourself flooded with past life memories. The important thing is to trust your gut instinct. If you just ’know’ that you died a certain way in a past life, accept the information and ask your spirit guides how that information can help you in the future.
Understanding a past life death can help you make sense of anxieties or patterns that you’re subconsciously experiencing in your current life. Often, it will help you to be more present. If an unexplainable fear pops up, you can remind yourself that you are no longer in danger of that experience. It’s simply a memory.
I will admit that once I explored the idea of my fear of fire being from a previous lifetime, the fear has lessened its grip somewhat. Today, I no longer fear lighting candles. In fact, I regularly light candles when performing certain metaphysical rituals.
