Here’s a warning for you: When you start working with crystals, it can get addictive. The first time you buy a crystal for a particular reason or intention and it actually works, you’ll be looking up new crystals to work with to help you with more manifestations. While there may be a lot of crystals that you want to work with, not every crystal will want to work with you. Luckily there are a number of ways to tell that a crystal would rather part ways.
One of the first things I learned about working with crystals is that you don’t pick crystals. Rather crystals pick you. If you’ve ever been drawn to a crystal and just couldn’t let it pass you by you know the feeling of having your energy captured by a crystal’s magic.
Whenever I want a new crystal I set the intention and then go to a metaphysical store where I will be able to find a selection to choose from. I wait until I’m drawn to one; if I’m not drawn, I go home and wait for the next opportunity.
I will say it’s also possible to be drawn to a crystal via the Internet. While my preference is to feel a crystal’s energy in person before I buy it, there have been times when I was drawn to a crystal via its picture or description online and purchased it. When I trust my intuition, it never proves me wrong so those crystal purchases turned out ok.
Signs a crystal is turning you away…
So how can you tell that a crystal doesn’t want to be your friend? There are a number of signs. If you experience any of these when handling a crystal, considering one or even if you already own it, consider letting it go.
The crystal keeps dropping from your hand
Ever picked up a crystal only to have it seem to jump out of your hand? I’ve seen it happen to someone — twice in a row while perusing crystals in a store. Needless to say, that person was insightful enough to put the crystal back and keep searching for something more compatible.
The crystal feels dull and heavy
When you pick up a crystal that’s in alignment with you, you may feel a positive sensation. Some people feel a tingle; others may feel heat. Whatever you feel, check in with yourself to see how you feel about the feeling. If the feeling feels good to you, the crystal is happy to make your acquaintance. If the feeling isn’t good, look for a crystal better suited to your energy field.
You feel nothing when you interact with the crystal
Remember, crystals are designed to do something for you. And they let you know when you’ve met a match. If you find a crystal yet feel nothing when you’re in its presence, it’s not the metaphysical aid you’ve been looking for.
You lose the crystal
This sign is for those who have a crystal already. Say you can’t find it or you believe someone has taken it. Take that as a sign from the Universe that you and the crystal have already done your work together. And if someone has taken it, trust that they need it more than you. The same goes with if a crystal breaks or is otherwise damaged. Its work with you may be done.
There’s one caveat to keep in mind: A crystal may want to work with you today and be finished with you tomorrow. Likewise, a crystal that doesn’t want to be your friend today may attract you to it in a couple of months. For that reason, don’t take a crystal’s fickleness personally.
As we grow and evolve, our energy attracts what we need at that time. Trust that the right crystal will enter your life when you need it, and it won’t stay a second too long.
